DCI acquires new client/server system

From: A.J. Krail, President, (620) 694-6800

For Immediate Release…

March 7, 1997-- Data Center Inc. (DCI) announces its acquisition of the ProBanx client-server banking unit of Perot Systems Corporation in Dallas, TX.

DCI’s new system will provide banks a true client-server Windows-based environment for deposit and loan processing, customer information file development, general ledger accounting and ancillary products. By utilizing the latest client-server and relational database technology, the system offers point-and-click access to a single base of real-time information, available enterprise-wide.

DCI’s client-server system is based on open systems standards, which results in easy access of data regardless of where or how the data is stored and processed. With an open systems design, the client-server system can be integrated into bank’s existing systems, protecting investments in equipment and training and saving the bank additional costs. The system’s multi-user server runs on the UNIX operating system, with the client system operating on Microsoft Windows, Windows 95 or Windows NT.

DCI plans to offer the client-server system as a turnkey in-house software package operated directly by the bank or through access to the software in a service bureau environment. They will continue to provide mainframe processing to their existing customers at this time.

"Client-server technology is on the forefront of the banking industry," states A.J. Krail, president of DCI. "The acquisition of this system will allow us to offer two solutions to banks, in-house or traditional service bureau processing. This opens an entirely new market for us and increases the options we can offer our existing banks.

DCI currently provides mainframe data processing and technology services to 210 banks in Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Missouri and Arizona. To-date, seven banks are operating on the client-server system. With corporate headquarters in Hutchinson, KS, DCI maintains nine operating facilities throughout the United States.
