Frequently Asked Questions:
- Are these credit cards? They're like a credit
card, but transactions are deducted directly from a checking account. Visa Check or
MasterMoney cards can be used in many ways: (a) to purchase goods and services (b) for
checking account cash advances or (c) as an ATM card
- What are the advantages? They eliminate the
inconvenience of checks, allowing card holders to carry less cash and stop less often for
money. Plus, they earn interchange income for your institution.
- After a purchase, how soon will the money be
deducted from an account? The transaction takes about the same amount of
time as a check to clear. However, it is immediately memo-posted to the card
holder's account
making those funds unavailable.
- Is a PIN needed to use the card in a store or
restaurant? No, the transaction will be handled just like a credit card purchase. All
your card holder needs to do is sign a sales receipt.
- Where can Visa Check or MasterMoney be used?
The cards can be used anywhere Visa or MasterCard is accepted, worldwide. They can even be
used for phone or mail orders, and still work in ATMs!
- How is the transaction handled at the cash
register? Card holders simply tell the merchant they are paying by Visa or MasterCard.
The merchant will handle the transaction like a credit card purchase.
- Most people don't mind writing checks, why do
they need this card? The Visa Check or MasterMoney card comes in handy when customers
are out-of-town and checks aren't accepted or at a local merchant account that doesn't
accept checks. It's fast, convenient and easy!
- Is there an interest charge for Visa Check or
MasterMoney cards? Since transaction amounts are deducted from the primary checking
account, there is no interest charge.
