DCI's Mac Kay
Promoted to Senior Vice President -A 39-year trek from the bottom to the top-
Employed at DCI almost since its inception, Mac Kay was originally hired as an entry-level computer operator—and the company's ninth employee—in1968. During the past 39 years, Mac Kay steadily rose to more influential positions steering the company's unique customer focus and software innovations, including iCore®, DCI's flagship product for bank processing and management. Mac Kay's responsibilities as senior vice president include management of all DCI product development, third-party product development and relationships and customer support. Mac Kay has held prior positions at DCI as vice president for Product Management, Research and Development and Programming. "This
promotion recognizes more than Mel's 39 years of service," said During his 39-years at DCI, Mac Kay has participated in some of the most dramatic evolutions in technology, from hand-written programming code, key punch cards and “big iron” mainframe computers to today's point-and-click software, the Internet and micro systems like iCore that process more information in seconds than ever thought possible 40 years ago. "He has an incredible breadth of historical knowledge, but what makes Mel unique is how he applies that to creating new solutions and managing intricate details," added Jones. Under Mac Kay's supervision, DCI was one of the first companies to viably introduce an open and relational microcomputer-based core processing system like iCore in the bank technology industry. More notable is how the in-house development and deployment of iCore took place, while simultaneously maintaining the company's legacy mainframe processing system. This concurrent, single-team development and management of dual-platform systems was unprecedented in the industry. "Mel's
rise in the company is an inspiration to people at any starting position or
status in their career," said Sarah Fankhauser, senior vice president
of Customer Relationships and Products.
"But his real accomplishment is the difference he's made for our
customers along the way, and the imprint he has made on DCI." -------------------------------------------------------------
